☆ CHARACTER INFORMATION
NAME: Lando Calrissian
CANON: Star Wars
AGE: ~34
CANON POINT: mid Return of the Jedi, after destroying the second Death Star
BACKGROUND: Wookieepedia link

PERSONALITY:
Lando is, first and foremost, an opportunist. He had a rough childhood-- Soccoro is not an easy place to grow up-- and learned early on that if you're going to get anything in life, you have to take it yourself. He started off as a smuggler and a gambler, taking jobs to pay off his debts, running with a less than legal crowd across the galaxy. But Lando is also loyal, and he puts his trust in people who are loyal to him. Case in point, Lobot. When Lobot sacrificed his mind so that he and Lando could escape the ship that was about to explode, Lando swore to find a way to get his friend back, and kept Lobot with him through his years at Cloud City, serving as his right hand man.

Being Baron Administrator of Cloud City taught Lando responsibility, and to look out for the well beings of people other than himself. When Vader arrived and forced him to make a deal to turn over his friends, he agreed because it would guarantee the safety of the people in his charge. Then, when Vader altered the terms of their deal, he bailed, but not before trying to get as many people out of Cloud City as he could.

Lando is someone who plays games, always trying to succeed and come out ahead. Whether it's a game of Sabacc with a ship at stake, or whether it's a longer game of deception, he's pretty good at rolling with the punches. This is the guy who went on for years about how he can't stand blasters, won't use 'em, et cetera, only so that when the time came he finally had to use a blaster, no one would see it coming.

Doing the right thing for the right, more altruistic reasons is relatively new to Lando, but he finds it suits him well. He likes the adventure that comes along with fighting for the Rebel Alliance, but he also likes the acclaim. And he feels that he's ignored the misdeeds of the Empire for far too long. He knows there's not much he can do by himself to take down the Empire, but if there's a way for him to help the Rebellion do just that, he will.

Lando sits in his bunk, poring over the briefing documents. He's not sure why he's here, or why no one else who was with him seems to be. No Nien Nunb, no other Rebel fighters. He's got nothing now to do but prepare himself for the long haul. So he's re-reading the briefing spiel, going line by line to familiarize himself with his new situation.

One line he'd missed pops out of him. Under inventory, after the uniform (which he's definitely not going to wear) and the dog tags, there's another item listed. A Corellian YT-model freighter, currently listed as being parked in the cargo bay. That could only mean--

He drops everything and heads for the cargo bay. And there she is, sitting among the other ships: The Millennium Falcon. He runs down to her, hitting the button to lower the ramp and head inside.

"Boy, am I glad to see you," he says to no one in particular, just glad for this little bit of familiarity. She's just as he left her, a little banged up from destroying the Death Star, but no worse for wear. After running all the diagnostics, Lando sinks into the pilot's seat, taking a deep breath. He's a long way from home, and even if he wanted to, he couldn't fly home without a copilot to calculate the jump to hyperspace. He may have the Falcon, but he's stuck.

He pushes himself up and back out to the cargo bay. He's not going to let himself get depressed about being stuck in a rut. That's not like him. No, he's going to get out there and find out what he can about how to make himself useful here. No resting on laurels for Lando, no sir. But first things first: he's going to need new clothes. There's no way he's wearing that uniform.
